Despite the advantages of ultraviolet curable coatings there are still existing drawbacks in
some special fields. One of these well-known problems relates to through curing of pigmented
coatings. The common explanation for the problems which are evident here is that pigments,
by absorbing ultraviolet radiation, compete with the photoinitiators and thus diminish their
effectiveness. Additional disturbances may be due to the scattering of UV radiation on the
pigment particles 1-5].

This paper considers the influence of various system parameters (especially the raw materials
in the formulations). Based on the results optimized model formulations were developed.
