For several years DuPont Powder Coatings has been producing and selling UV curable powder coatings for commercial use on MDF furniture and PVC flooring, and in doing so offering unique advantages to our customers. Our continuing work aims to further expand the UV powder technology with new and better formulations for our customers. Applications with significant potential include MDF furniture, PVC and parquet flooring, various assembled metal applications and both veneer and natural wood furniture. Lately, the focus of our work has been to develop UV powder formulations that fill the needs of the extensive MDF coating market. This has included improving the properties of our textured UV powder coatings so that they pass the European requirements for office and other furniture, and formulating smooth UV powder coatings, both glossy and mall, for various furniture applications. Our work has also included optimisation of the powder process parameters. Parameters that must be controlled to achieve the perfect coating results we aim for include: careful selection and pre-treatment of the MDF substrate and optimised application, melting and UV curing of the coating
