Multivinyl monomers are photopolymerized to produce highly crosslinked networks with the
advantages of both a solventless system and a process that can be carried out under ambient
conditions. Ideally, a priori knowledge of how changing cure conditions impact highly crosslinked
systems is preferred. However, under most photopolymerization conditions, crosslinking
monomers exhibit anomalous behavior such as autoacceleration, autodeceleration, and reaction
diffusion controlled termination which all contribute to difficult polymerization behavior prediction of these systems for a range of polymerization conditions. Mathematical models are often instrumental in developing new theories to explain complex behavior. For crosslinking
photoplymerizations, many models have been developed that implicate and incorporate volume , reaction and primary 5 as possible causes for anomalous behavior. While these models have contributed to a better understanding of crosslinking photopolymerizations, their predictive capabilities are poor when polymerization conditions are altered.
