State of the art light-curing polymer fillings are good alternatives to amalgam dental fillings due to their very short curing time and their suitability towards mechanical and esthetic requirements. One of the important problems that is associated with these types of materials is the limited penetration depth of light which causes problems when thicker layers need to be cured. Currently, such fillers have to be cured layer by layer which leads to inconveniences in usage.
