The core value of UV curing is that it enables users to do things that otherwise would be impossible or not as economical or efficient. UV curing is a photo-chemical process. Under the action of UV light, the binder of the ink, varnish, adhesive etc. will harden in a fraction of a second to form a dried and solid film, comparable to a plastic film. Unlike to conventional inks or liquid inks, there are no solvents! diluents to be eliminated by evaporation or absorption. Instead, all the reactive components participate in the instantaneous polymerisation. Therefore 100% of the quantity of printed/coated material remains in the cured film. This makes UV technology one of the cleanest technologies. At the focus of the current development of UV systems is the enhancement of the UV-radiation power. However, not only the power enhancement takes the central stage in a particular manner but also the increasing of the efficiency. On the one hand the of efficiency of electrical supply is increased by the concept of electrical power supply units (ELC ) and on the other hand the UV radiation is led to the irradiated object more efficiently by optimized reflector geometry and their coating (URS®). In both cases you can get more UV-radiation power for the curing from the same electrical power. The UV systems developed by 1ST METZ GmbH shall demonstrate the selective further enhancements and their consequential realisation of the efficiency increase. However a unit is not only decorated by an improved energy balance but also by an efficient and well thought-out operation. For this the fast lamp change FLC® shall be introduced. Changing lamps is now
easier and quicker with the new cable-free FLC® (Fast Lamp Change) lamp system. The new lamps reduce downtime for lamp changes to a minimum. The UV-lamp can be unplugged from the lamp unit with only a few grips, a lamp change is possible within a few seconds.
