Polytype is a leading Engineering and Manufacturing Company and manufactures among
other equipment, machines for the paper, film and foil converting industry. Since Spring 1993 and newly from Summer 1999, Polytype will have at their facilities at Fribourg, Switzerland, some of the most advanced multipurpose Pilot Plants in the world. The plants are managed by a team of five highly specialized experts. These machines are being used for research and development purposes and are also available, for trial runs, to interested customers. The Pilot Lines are furnished with equipment for EB, UV and lR curing as well as for conventional hot air drying. They will be presented in this paper. Based on the experience with the Pilot Line, the process know how regarding materials and production speed can be developed on an industrial scale. The machines are designed and built with the latest state-of-the-art equipment and the advantages to our customers who are making use of this facility, are evident: -No risks with layout and manufacturing of custom tailored production machines. - Due to the flexibility of the Pilot Plant, production trials can be made under production conditions (no need to interrupt production on existing machines).
