1 Introduction
Curing of pigmented media (typically in the presence of titahiuth dioxide or coloured pigments) is mostly restricted to thin films and remains difficult, due to the high light absorption by the pigment, that is detrimental to the own absorption Of light by the photoinitiator. Much research work has been focused on this problem and based on two ideas : either the design of red shifted absorbing molecules acting as photoinitiators or the finding of photosensitizers S able to absorb'at long wavelengths and to transfer their excitation to a photoinitiator l.This idea relies on the synthesis of new or newly modified chemical structures : in such a combination, synergistic processes occur. Our general activity is devoted to the basic investigation of excited state processes in photosensitive systems. In the present case, timeresolved laser-spectroscopy will help to clarify the mechanisms of S / I interactions.
