Low voltage (< 100 kV) EB devices are successfully used in several ink curing applications. This paper will discuss low voltage EB technology as well as various applications related to ink curing. Typical advantages of low voltage EB technology are:
- Operation in air is possible; therefore no vacuum equipment is required.
- Compactness, which enables easy integration into existing machinery.
- Low voltage electrons generate less ozone and X-rays; therefore a simple shielding is sufficient.
- Low voltage electrons show a high absorbing efficiency of 80-90% and the substrate damage
is reduced to a minimum.
