A new generation of low cost electron beam dryers operating in the 70 kV — 110 kV range is now
commercially available. Electrons accelerated at these low energies are especially suited for curing
solvent-free inks, coatings and laminating adhesives that contain no photoinitiators. The new electron beam (EB) dryers are very compact, allow high processing speeds at low power consumption and can be retrofitted into existing converting machinery. The advantages and economy of these new EBcuring systems for various applications, together with equipment design and capabilities, as well as the integration of these systems into converting machinery will be presented.
