Investigation of Printing Inks and Coatings Formulations for UV-LED Cure

• only a selected number of Photoinitiators work under LED

• LED 365 shows the best results for a magenta ink.

• A 3 level (6-2) DoE shows that DETX and TPO/BAPO are sufficient for a good cure

• EMK has in most cases a negative impact on cure, maybe due to its high efficiency, and yellows to much in magenta at 3% content

• DoE works good to predict reactivity and photoinitiator combinations

• Distance lamp to substrate should be adjust to optimize cure response; the reason for this observation is unknown
