UV dual cure systems are becoming more interesting especially when dealing with the latest activities developing UV curable automotive coatings. The shadow regions on 3D substrates can be cured by the UV independent thermal curing mechanism. Also the perspectives for pigmented UV coatings should increase. An isocyanato acrylate resin based on an allophanate backbone starts a new class of dual cure binders which allow low viscosity formulations. Investigations for the coating properties and application concepts will be presented.
