Cationic Radiation curable silicones have been complemented by additional silicones in order to achieve special needs such as very low and stable release in front of agressive adhesives. We have developed epoxy silicone polymers with release values starting very low and increasing slightly with stripping speeds. The new system is targeted for use on filmic liners. With its improved no zip and stable release, the UV system performs similarly to thermal solvent silicone systems, and also may be useful for mastic release applications. Indeed, release forces against mastics have been shown to be stable up to 55°C. We have compared the cure speed of these new systems by photo-DSC and determined the best formulations.
