Today, radiation curing (RC) is a widely used technique for a number of industrial processes. Examples are woodfinishing, printing inks, metal coating and embedding of electronic materials. Additionally, there is a well established and still rapidly growing field for râdition curable systems in the manufacturing of silicone release coatings. This important RC application will be discussed in the following paper.

Silicone based release coatings have been used in the market for over 30 years. The most important and proven systems were solvent based condensation products. As a result of environmental demands, the use of organic solvents has to be reduced. Therefore, 100% solvent-free, transition metal catalyzed, addition curing products were introduced into the market some years ago. Water based emulsions were also developed for. some special applications.
