Rapi-Cure® Vinyl Ethers in Acrylate Oligomer-Based Free Radical UV Wood Coatings

ISP manufacture a wide range of vinyl ethers under the Rapi-Cure trade name. In the last
ten years ISP has been instrumental in developing the use of these products as reactive
diluents for radiation cured systems.

Initial success was obtained using vinyl ethers to dilute high viscosity epoxide' oligomers
which were cationically cured with the newly emerging onium salt photo-initiators. REF 1-3

Further expansion of the technology took place when the dual cure free radical/cationic or
"hybrid" systems were found to give high speed reactions using acrylates without any
concomitant inhibition by oxygen or humidity. REF 4
