One of the most important challenges these days for the Industrial Wood Finishes manufacturers is the development of new products which have to be compliant with the new regulations concerning VOC emissions. This target is especially difficult in the case of certain applications in which alternative technologies have problems to achieve the usual standards of performance currently obtained using high VOC levels. This is the case of UV curable spray applied lacquers used to coat volumetric parts or flat surfaces on which a smooth aspect is required. The paper presents applicative systems consisting of seaters and topcoats formulated with new binders based on proprietary technologies, such as the new generations of UV curable pure acrylic dispersions and UV powder urethane acrylates.
