The fundamental physical challenge of low temperature curing powder coating systems like UVpowder is based on the inconsistency between the storage stability and the melt viscosity of the powder. In particular if crystalline compounds are used to improve flow, the glass transition temperature and thus the storage stability is decreased significantly. This paper is focused on the possibilities and limitations of choosing the right composition of a crystalline resin in an appropriate amount. In addition other ways of improving storage stability without sacrificing flow, flexibility, adhesion or weatherability are shown.
