The performances of the novel bifunctional photoinitiator LFC 1001 (Esacure 1001) are reported
when used in combination of H-transfer co-initiators and in particular with amine and ethoxylated
acrylate co-initiators. Their combinations further increase the efficiency of the photoinitiator in the
formulation. Use of thioxanthen-9-one derivatives in formulations of pigmented systems has a morethan additive effect on the reactivity. This behaviour is very important in development of energy
curable inks. Stability of ink formulations, absence of odour post curing and low migratability of the
photoinitiator demonstrate the potential of LFC 1001 in different applications in which thin layer
pigmented systems are used.
