The object of this study is radiation curable pressure sensitive adhesives,
PSAs, which are prepared by reacting one or more hydroxy polyesters
with a prepolymer having acrylate and isocyanate functionality. Typically
the OH:NCO ratio is larger than 2:1 so that all the isocyanate groups are
reacted and the resulting uncured product carries hydroxyl groups and
terminal acrylic bonds. It is essentially a block copolymer with the blocks
being linked together by urethane groups as schematized in Fig. 1.
