During the past year, a new UV Powder resin system, developed for applications on wood, was presented on several 23 The technological benefits and performance of this system on MDF (pigmented textured finish), natural wood and veneered composite board (matt / semi-gloss clearcoat) have been published in the September issue of "The European Coatings Journal".
This paper describes the advantages, possibilities and characteristics of the above mentioned coatings. A new resin system for smooth finishes on MDF (matt / high gloss) is also introduced.
The influence of MDF characteristics on the process of coating with UV powders and on the final coating properties has been studied in detail by the Institut für Holztechnologie Dresden (IHD). The results of this study are included.
