The performances of UV-cured thermoforming inks for plastic surfaces are usually based both on the high photopolymerization rates and good film-forming properties, maintained also under high elongation at high moderately temperatures. The industrial process is initially based on the UV-curing reaction of an ink on the thermoplastic material surface, and then it is heated and deformed to achieve a desiderated shape under an applied stress. In this contribution, we have developed some screen printing ink formulations for the industrial production of the UV-cured thermoforming inks showing good adhesion and fast photopolymerizatiori rates. In particular, we have investigated on the photopolymerization performances of some UV-curable acrylated thermoplastic ink achieving a successful printing quality for graphic art applications on the surfaces of polycarbonate (PC) sheets. The suggested formulations have been prepared avoiding substances that have heavy detrimental effects on the health and the environment.
