UV-curable resins for optical and printable coatings are of special interest, since the fast curing of resins by UV-LEDs or mercury lamps allow fast processing of the materials and short production times. Hence, recent results of investigations of thermosetting polymers for passive optical waveguides, claddings for optical glass fibers and printable coatings are presented. The development of modular systems of resins in order to achieve optimized viscosity, refractive index or enhanced thermal and mechanical properties was the objective of this work.
