UV-Plasma Curing: Capture the Third Dimension

UV-curable coatings are mainly discussed for the application on 2-dimensional substrates. If 3- dimensional substrates are painted with pure acrylate based UV-coatings using conventional lamp equipment for exposure, lack of curing in shadow areas will occur. Until now Dual Cure Systems, involving a UV-curing and a thermal curing step, are proposed to overcome this problem. To achieve dry coatings in shadow areas using acrylate based UV-coatings, UV-plasma cure is a feasible solution.
