UV processes have a curing 'process window', where the appropriate UV level in the correct parts
of the spectrum is required to activate the formulation to a sufficient level to be considered
'cured'. This paper discusses some recent improvements in the measurement of UV radiation
used in various curing processes and practical methods for acquiring reliable measurements.
New lamp types and trends in the matching of lamps to formulations are discussed. With
increasing process speeds and lamp output, the issue of lamp choice and answering 'why bad
cure?' (if it occurs) becomes more important. This paper places LJV measurement central to an
integrated process control approach.
